Double Screw Pump
Fristam Pumps next-generation solution for hygienic low-flow pumping and dosing! A downsized version of our standard FDS pump, this innovative new pump design has been meticulously engineered for accuracy and performance when pumping smaller quantities of 5-900l/h or performing a dosing function.
Key Benefits
3 pumps in 1: Unlike other low flow pumping technologies, the FDS Nano can alternate between operating at low speeds for pumping and dosing and high speeds (up to 4,000rpm) to self-clean with CIP. It is therefore equally suitable for:
Hygienic Design: The FDS Nano internal design is open and free from dead areas. Fully flushed areas around the mechanical seals ensure effective cleaning during CIP, with no need to disassemble the pump to clean it, enhancing operational efficiency.
Gentle Product Handling: The twin screw design of the FDS Nano ensures smooth, low-shear product handling. Effortless pumping, even in tough conditions: The FDS Nano handles up to 70% air in the line without air-locking and viscosities up to 1 million cP are conveyed with ease.
With the capability of achieving such low flow rates, Fristam are now able to enter new areas of processing:
Replacing inferior low flow technology: The FDS Nano is a great replacement for AOD (Air operated diaphragm pumps) or gear pumps for pumping small volumes of product. However, neither pump type is optimised for hygiene or pumping shear sensitive products.
The Fristam FDS Nano is used for precise dosing, hygienic product transfer, and CIP (Cleaning-In-Place) in food and beverage manufacturing. Its smooth, pulsation-free flow makes it ideal for applications requiring accurate dosing of viscous or shear-sensitive products.
Yes, the FDS Nano is designed to handle product transfer at low speeds and CIP fluids at high speeds (up to 4,000 rpm), making it a 3-in-1 solution for dosing, viscous product handling, and CIP cleaning with a single hygienic pump.
The FDS Nano supports product flow rates between 5 and 900 litres per hour, and up to 3 m³/h for CIP fluids, depending on application and screw pitch selection.
The FDS Nano delivers virtually pulsation-free axial flow, which enables consistent and accurate dosing. The contact-free screws are precisely manufactured to ensure smooth operation without backflow.
Yes, the FDS Nano can handle up to 70% gas content and air pockets without air-locking. This makes it particularly reliable in applications with aerated or frothy products.
The FDS Nano can handle viscosities ranging from 0.5 to 1,000,000 cP, making it suitable for everything from water-thin liquids to extremely viscous media like creams, sauces, and gels.
The FDS Nano supports a maximum discharge pressure of 10 bar and standard operating temperatures up to 150°C. A special version is available for processes up to 220°C.
Advisable routine maintenance includes regular oil checks, annual oil changes (or every 4,000 hours), and periodic seal inspections. The screw alignment and flexible coupling design simplify servicing without pump removal.
Yes, the FDS Nano can be mounted horizontally, vertically, or sideways, and its compact design and direct coupled drive makes it ideal for installations where space is limited.
The FDS Nano is a great replacement for other, less hygienic or robust low flow pumping technologies such as: Gear Pumps or AOD pumps (Air Operated Diaphragm Pumps).
Yes, the FDS Nano meets GMP principles by offering fully cleanable-in-place operation, hygienic screw design, and minimal dead space. All wetted materials are compliant with pharmaceutical-grade standards, and elastomer options meet regulatory requirements.
Due to its small size and ability to be directly sized up to a larger FDS double screw pump, the FDS Nano is the ideal pilot plant pump.
